Dunwoody United Basketball 

Gavi Abraham

 An Atlanta native, Coach Gavi was a 4 year varsity player in high school earning All Region Honors twice and All State as a senior.  As a point guard, he was a team leader and a coach on the court.  He then attended Georgia State and upon graduation he knew he wanted to teach and coach youth basketball.  He now serves as the Director of Basketball Operation at the Marcus Jewish Community Center. This past season he led the Dunwoody United 7th grade team to a very successful initial season. His unique coaching style emphasizes the development of strong fundamentals and team unity. We are so excited to have him back with our fall program and leading the 8th grade team next spring.

Zak Elfenbein

Coach Zak, originally from Miami, FL, has been a part of the Dunwoody United Community for 1 year leading this years 9th grade team to a 22-10 record and 1st or 2nd place in 4 tournaments. Prior to his success at the AAU level, Zak was a staff member and graduate assistant coach of the University of Florida Men's Basketball Team for 4 season under Head Coach Billy Donovan. Zak has had the opportunity to work with NBA stars such as Bradley Beal, Al Horford, and Joakim Noah during his tenure at the collegiate level specializing in player development.  As a player, Zak competed overseas in Israel and Argentina, then followed his passion for coaching to Germany. Zak now call Atlanta his home, serving as the Athletic Director for the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta.  Zak takes pride in helping players achieve their goals on and off the floor, focusing on details of the game and helping players improve every day.


Ricky Kersey 

A Columbia, Md native, Ricky graduated from Georgia tech and considers himself a basketball junkie. After spending his entire undergrad stint as a practice player and manager for the GT women’s basketball team, he was hired full time as the director of basketball operations. Spending a total of 7 years involved with an ACC program, he has experience at one of the highest levels of the game. Ricky is a former AAU player and thoroughly understands the type of skill training, court awareness. and team play that is necessary to be successful at this level. This past season Ricky coached our 6th-7th grade team and was recognized for his ability to make in-game adjustments that allowed his young team to be not only competitive but successful against squads with more tournament experience. We are so excited to have him entering his second season with Dunwoody United.

Jeff Marcus 

Jeff was born and raised in Bethesda, Maryland where he played basketball throughout high school.  During his teenage years, he attended Metropolitan Basketball Camp run by Hall of Fame Dematha High School Coach Morgan Wooten. He then attended Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania where he was involved with the basketball program from his freshman year. During his junior and senior years, he served as the Associate Basketball Coach of the Women’s Varsity Team.

After graduation he was selected to play on the USA Pan American Maccabi Basketball Team that competed in Sao Paulo Brazil.  The team he was on won the Silver Metal in the games. Jeff then went to George Washington University School of Medicine. While there he was chosen to be a member of the scout team for the Women’s Varsity Basketball Program.

Upon moving to Atlanta he became involved in coaching recreation teams for girls and boys. In 2012, he began coaching AAU/Travel teams eventually creating the Dunwoody United Basketball Program. Coach Marcus is committed to strengthening fundamentals, improving foot work/speed, expanding his players understanding and knowledge of the game, and emphasizing the concept of team over individual.  His practices are structured with each one designed to focus on basic concepts that allow his teams to play a controlled and disciplined style of basketball.

The father of three children, “Coach” strongly believes that we are in the business of character development and instilling strong ideals and values in our players.  He continues to coach for the love of the game and the opportunity to help young men and women grow and reach their full potential.   


Daniel Quintanilla

Originally from Uniondale, NY Coach Daniel attended High School in Conyers, Ga. where he was a star point guard.  He then graduated from college with a degree in Sports Management. He is a member of the Atlanta Hawks youth development team where he lead camps and trains young players at clinics around Atlanta. Daniel has worked with many different age groups from 5-18 as well as some travel and select teams. 


Daniel joined DUB this past season and helped lead our 8th grade spring team to a very successful season including 2 tournament championships and 2 runner ups. Daniel is a dedicated father and he thoroughly enjoys working with young developing players. He strives to help them the obtain the  tools that will not only make them successful on the court but in life. His players this past season loved playing for him as his enthusiasm for the game and his desire to help each player grow and improve was contagious. We are thrilled to have him as a part of the Dunwoody United Basketball Family.


Rory Spencer

Coach Rory Spencer is from Atlanta, Georgia.  After playing in the post in high school was recruited to play at Georgia Southern University.  While there Rory was a dominant rim protector and shot blocker. In fact, he still holds the Eagles all-time single season record for block shots.

Upon graduation, he played for the Delaware 87ers of the NBA D- league. Deciding to take his talents overseas, Rory has played professionally in Italy, Portugal, London Argentina and Germany.

Upon the completion of his professional career, he decided that he wanted to work with, train and coach young men. He has since worked in the Atlanta Hawks Development Program as well as being selected to be a USA Basketball Development Coach.

Before coming to Dunwoody United Basketball (DUB) in 2016 Rory worked with The Skill Factory (TSF) as a development coach. Since joining DUB, he has been a very valuable member of our team specifically working with our inside players. He places significant emphasis on foot work, body positioning, use of both hands around the hoop and conditioning.  His players respond to his unique firm but caring coaching style.

This past season, Rory was the head coach our 8th grade team which won championships in 2 tournaments and placed 2nd in two others.  His teams are well disciplined and always display the strong competitive spirit and good sportsmanship instilled in them by their coach.
